The TH Nuremberg receives support from a regional company: The Franconian measurement and testing technology manufacturer Gossen Metrawatt GmbH is involved with a laboratory sponsorship at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Precision Engineering and Information Technology (efi).
Prof. Dr. Tilman Botsch, Vice President for Research and Transfer at the TH Nuremberg, inaugurated the two laboratories together with Marcel Hutka, Managing Director of Gossen Metrawatt GmbH and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Pöhlau, Dean of the Faculty efi.
The two laboratories will now bear the names “GOSSEN METRWATT Labor Paul Gossen” and “GOSSEN METRAWATT Labor Siegfried Guggenheimer” for a period of at least three years. The two Franconian entrepreneurs, who were initially competitors at the beginning of the 20th century, laid the foundation for the merger of Metrawatt AG and Paul Gossen GmbH in 1993 to form today’s company.
„The efi faculty attaches great importance to practice-oriented studies, which is why we operate over 40 laboratories for research and teaching“, said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Pöhlau. “We are very pleased that with Gossen Metrawatt we were able to gain another practical partner and laboratory sponsor who helps to keep the education of our students at a high level.” The laboratories are located in the university’s KA building at Keßlerplatz and offer students workplaces for their practical teaching.
„Measuring electrical quantities is very important to us at Gossen Metrawatt, but it is even more important to know how to measure correctly and interpret the measured values. That’s why I’m very pleased that we can support the Nuremberg University of Technology and also the students in their practical work in the two laboratories Siegfried Guggenheimer and Paul Gossen“, adds Marcel Hutka.
